Tap to Pay on iPhone requires an iPhone XS or later running iOS 16 or newer. Enablement and checkout happen in the Homespace mobile app — the web dashboard is not used for in-person payment collection.

How to enable Tap to Pay
Open the Homespace app on your iPhone
Make sure you are running the latest version of the Homespace mobile app.
Agree to the Tap to Pay terms
Apple requires you to accept the Tap to Pay on iPhone terms of service the first time you enable the feature. This is a one-time step.
How to collect a payment in the field
Open the job or invoice
In the Homespace mobile app, open the job you just completed or the invoice you want to collect on.
Present the reader to your customer
Your iPhone screen will display the payment amount. Ask the customer to tap their card or device to the top of your iPhone where the NFC reader is located.
Processing rate and deposit timing
Tap to Pay uses the standard in-app card rate: 2.6% + $0.10 per transaction. Payments collected before 5 PM PT on a business day are deposited the same day. There is no additional delay for in-person payments.Troubleshooting

Confirm your iPhone is XS or later and running iOS 16 or newer. If the device meets requirements, make sure your bank account is connected under Settings > Payments. Tap to Pay is unavailable until your Stripe account has charges enabled.

Ask the customer to hold their card flat against the top of your iPhone for one to two seconds. Some thick wallets or phone cases on the customer’s device can interfere with NFC. Ask them to remove the card from the wallet or case and try again.
The payment was declined
The payment was declined
Declines come from the customer’s card issuer, not Homespace. Ask the customer to try a different card or payment method. The declined attempt is logged in the job record but no charge is made.

Refunds work the same way as any other Homespace payment. Open the payment record in the job, select Refund, and confirm. Refunds are free and typically appear in the customer’s account within 5–10 business days.
